Is there a way to check to see if my pool is leaking?
For most pools, the normal evaporation level is about 1" to 1-1/2" per week. When the weather is warm and the nights are cool you’ll see the most evaporation. You can perform this simple test to determine if your pool is leaking. Make sure there is no rain in the forecast and bring your pool water to its normal level. Fill an ordinary plastic bucket with pool water, but leave one inch from the top. Shut off your pool pump. Put the plastic bucket on your pool steps and mark the water levels on the inside and outside of the bucket. Turn the pump back on. After 24 hours, check the levels. If the outside level evaporated faster than the inside level, then you probably have a leak.
Is acid washing or painting an inexpensive alternative to resurfacing?
When a pool is painted, it may look good for a while, however after time the paint will begin to peel and it will need to be repainted. Multiple acid washings will result in increased porosity in the plaster and roughness to the touch. They are both less expensive alternatives in the short-term, but they will not be cost-effective long-term and are not likely to give you results you’re going to be satisfied with in the first place.
How old does a pool have to be to be a candidate for renovation?
With regular maintenance, your pool can last many years, however even a well maintained pool will eventually show signs of age. As a rule of thumb, concrete pools should be re-painted every three to five years or re-plastered every 10 to 15 years.
Is it possible to change the shape and size of my pool?
Yes. Unfortunately, once the foundation has been breached for a reshaping, the process becomes much longer and more complicated, but it can be done. The cost and time frame involved will be more like that of a new pool installation. Anything is possible with Blue Diamond Pool and Spa, however reshaping or resizing your pool is not a typical renovation.
How hard is it to update my equipment?
Adding or changing your equipment is easy with Blue Diamond Pool and Spa. They’re renovations that only you will see, but they will have a great impact on the quality of the water and will save you money and time.
